Prioritizing Community Applications Through Indigenous Values
Miigwech (thank you) for your interest in applying to the Indigenous Peoples Resilience Fund (IPRF)!
IPRF prioritizes reciprocal relationships with Indigenous Peoples, and we welcome applications written 'by community for community'.
We do not wish to be in transactional relationships with consultants on behalf of “clients”, thus consultants or firms are ineligible to apply on your behalf.
If you choose to work with a consultant to prepare your application, the application must be submitted by the organization, however, fees for professional grant writing services are ineligible expenses as these mount up and compromise our ability to support as many applications as possible.
IPRF asks that you be mindful and ‘take only what you need, use all of what you take’ in the spirit of Indigenous ways of sustainability and honourable harvesting, so that we can care for those that need our support the most.
IPRF is an Indigenous-led public foundation that funds “non-qualified donees” (not-for-profits, grassroots organizations) and “qualified donees” (charities and Indigenous community governments) undertaking charitable activity for charitable purposes. Therefore, applications from for-profit or social enterprises are ineligible for funding.
We ask that you reflect on your organization’s financial privilege and consider your access to financial resources in comparison to access to funding for “non-qualified donees”. IPRF prioritizes funding community-informed and community-led solutions and initiatives which are often “closest to the ground”, at the grassroots, and furthest from financial and funding opportunities.
